Nikon sensor rumour ?

Rumour has is that Nikon is working on an MX format sensor, ie medium-format.
The possible MX format may have an image size of 40.7Mp !Will be interesting to see what comes of this :)
HMMMMMM, i wouldnt bee too sure about that. I think between Phase one and leaf they have pretty much cornered the market.
And as for use in a nikon body well the current lens circle diameters are just not large enough to suppourt medium format.
But that can easily be fixed with a new range of lenses.
I would be very interested in seeing if this does happen or not.
For now though for me, all my medium format will be done on film.Nikon used to make lenses for Bronica, so the lens capabilities should be there.
Would have to be a new body…
Would 36mm by 36mm be considered a “new” medium format? Surely that’s possible with the current crop of Fx lenses?
