Is it always like this in Mayo?

    Any C&C welcome

I think the day is so gloomy and the colours are so dull, you’d be better off wit ha black and white version.
I had a rough go at making it black and white with the Windows Vista built in image editor and this is what I came up with (just desaturation and a bit of brightness/contrast).

If you took some time and effort in a more sophisticated image editor I think this could be a great shot.

I like the composition and it looks better in b&w (IMO).
I plaid with the converted photo from Cian, added 22% sharpness, decreased the light by4 and increased the contrast by 5 in PS ellements 4.

Thats Lough Doo, near Lenane. Thought that was in Galway. Heres my own attempt.

Was this taken through a window?

I say this based on two pieces of evidence
    1. The slightly elevated position which looks above head height
    2. Apparent refections on the RHS, is it my imagination but can I make out a face?

I’m afraid it’s against my principles to critique a shot that was taken from the warmth of a bus.

If I am wrong then I sincerely apologise. Let me know and I’ll make ammends.

Nope. Used too long of an exposure. Came out a wee bit soft

Sorry Constanine, I was more commenting about Neils original version.

Whoops! Jumped the gun there Andy.

But I know where this was taken, and it would want to be one kamikaze bus driver to park there. I can see the shadow though. Hmmmm

That will be a pint then Andy, Taken in the p***ing rain after I leap out of the car, much to the ungruntlement of the guy who was sitting on my back bumper at the time, no conception of braking distances obviously.

I can see the apparent reflection or shadow though, over use of the old dodging in the version I posted, apologies for that.

Its odd but all the photos I have posted everyone says better in black and white, but I like the subdued colours, all a matter of taste.

Thanks for the comments all taken on board.

LOL, Well all I can do is grovel and offer you a pint of the black stuff.

Fair play to you for braving the mizzle and getting the shot. The composition is bang on and I would say some of the b&w efforts here have really added some extra mood to the original.

Nice one and case closed !
