Northern Ireland v Poland

Lot of controversy surrounding this game, mostly outside Windsor Park rather than in it. My guess is that most people on the stands wouldn’t have even been aware of the mini-riot that has attracted so much attention. But a pity to let that stuff overshadow what was a great result for Northern Ireland (NI-3, Poland-2) against a very experienced team.

Northern Ireland’s Warren Feeney, who scored the opening goal after 10 minutes of play…
NI’s David Healy and Poland’s Michal Zewlakow.
Northern Ireland captain Damien Johnston and Poland’s Jakub Wawrzyniak.
Northern Ireland’s Warren Feeney keeps his eyes on the ball during the game against Poland…

DeeboParticipantTop quality shots indeed. Love the first one and could spend twenty mins just looking at all the different faces and the lone pole was a great spot.
What lens did you get the player shots with
DeepaulParticipantelludeParticipantDeebo – the first pic was taken just after Poland had scored their first goal. The NI fans were looking a bit crest-fallen at that stage and the Polish fan started waving the scarf. For most of the rest of the game it wouldn’t have seen as the NI fans were leaping up and down, waving their hands around etc. There were quite a lot of Polish fans there, probably around 2,000, but nearly all were in another two sections of another stand reserved for them.
In spite of the trouble outside the ground, there was a fantastic atmosphere inside (ie, friendly) while the game was in progress. I guess most people expected Poland to be the stronger side so there was great delight when NI picked up the points.
I was using a 300mm lens for the game.
Paul – thanks for your comment :)
SodafarlMemberCliff, another brilliant set the Healy one is a great shot. I really like the last one of Feeney stirring at the ball. Between that and the Martin Coulter one (hurling) you could start a set of sports men/women stirring at the ball, not very well put but I am serious as they are 2 similar shots but different and excellent images. Suppose you will be at the match tonight.
