Northern Lights?
-
Mark NParticipant
I know I’m sort of clutching at straws here but after hearing reports yesterday of the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights in Ireland, I went up to Malin Head with my daughter last night to see if I could see anything.
There was nothing obvious to see but I took a few long exposures of the sky to the north before we went back home. Looking at the attached there’s a greeny looking blob on the mid right of the horizon.
My daughter is convinced anyway?
PixelleMembercathaldParticipantI headed to Culdaff the other night Mark and as I was driving through Bluebell forest
I could see a big glow in the sky and thought my luck was in
But as I came out of the forest I seen Culdaff F C training and the floodlights were on :DshutterbugParticipantcathald wrote:

definitely is not in Wicklow anyway :(Mark NParticipantI might have another look tomorrow morning up at the Isle of Doagh if I can get up early enough
stewart kennyMemberive seen traces of the lights in Sligo and Donegal on very cold clear winter nights, even then they were fairly dim.

Next time, do not convince your dauther that Mickey Mouse live in Banba’s Crown.
Mark NParticipantOK. Maybe we didn’t see anything this time out but we’ll keep trying. But it is possible to see this from Ireland.

The Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights are often seen in Malin Head after spells of increased solar activity.Stoycho
