Taken in Paris in September.
I admit, it’s a bit of a snapshot really. I came across it and it made me smile.
I have some other photos of sculptures from the same park (Jardin du Luxembourg) but they’re all silhouetted against a blown-out sky.Tell me what you think of this one, anyway. And tell me what section it should be in (or move it there?)
RobMemberWhat a bizarre image Pete. I was in Paris myself in September and never got to
see this giant semi submerged woman, but then again I always visit the wrong places
and end up with the wrong pictures :lol:Regarding this image. I like it, or rather, I like about 40% of it, because to my eye leastways
the top 60% of this image is surplus to requirements, a needless cluttering of the frame that
draws the eye away from the main subject of your photograph. It serves no other purpose
in my humble opinion. Aside from that, I love it. Well spotted and takenRob.
jb7Participantme too-
I’d be with Rob here-
but thanks for putting the picture up,
I might never have got to see it otherwise-Maybe this is a scene setter,
and you have some details?j

I agree about chopping the top. I suppose I left it in because it made the sculpture even more incongruous in a way.
My darling beloved took me to Paris for my 40th birthday and we went to the Jardin du Luxembourg on the Sunday. The place was coming down with skinny French joggers doing laps of the park. That’s about all the background I can offer, really.
The nose was totally unlabelled in any way that I could see. Let’s just say that it was an arresting sight!
At least one of the other sculptures I shot would fall foul of this website’s nudity laws – a bronze lady with a quite astonishing level of detail.

… and mine for my 43rd. Aren’t darlings so sweet…
PeteTheBlokeMemberHere’s the other woman I mentioned. Not all the “astonishing detail” is visible from this angle.

You took the words right out of my mouth Pete…!! That has to be the strangest looking sculpture in the most nonsensical position I’ve ever seen. If it was in a modern art setting fine..but in front of an obviously classical piece of sculpture…wow!!
Don’t ya just love the French… :D
