Another super shot from Alaska, I’m so jealous. I imagine you used a pretty big lens for lens for this but you still must have been fairly close, I bet it was an amazing experience.

Another for the world of Hauke Dolittle. Simple shot that we’ve probably seen before but to know it was from “one of our own” seems to make it all the more interesting…almost like it’s real life!!
I’ve a mild query though – there seems to be a bright band coming down through the centre of the image. I’m guessing it’s the remains of spray from the whale?

Correct.
There was almost no wind that day and the spray goes up 10 – 15 feet and then hangs there forever.To get an idea of the amount of water blown out have a look at the back of this guy:
