jb7Participant
I’m going to be in Donegal the weekend after next-
anyone interested in showing me some of the sights,
or allowing me to tag along on one of your regular outings?Failing that, any tips about the top left corner of the country would be appreciated-
Landscape would seem to be something to do,
but it’s not something I have much experience of…joseph
cathaldParticipantWhere about are you staying Joseph
I would have no problem meeting up
for a day
Glenveigh national park is worth a visit
Glen is another nice area BM sorted a trip there
last year and it was a great spotCathal
jb7ParticipantCheers Cathal, that’d be great-
staying in Kindrum-I won’t be on the internet, so we’ll have to exchange numbers…
I’ve been on Google Earth, and Glenveigh does look good-
If it was possible, and if they exist, I’d quite like to find abandoned villages or settlements-
I know there’s the famine village, but that’s pretty much a theme park-
Anyone know of anything like that in Donegal?sean1098Memberjb7ParticipantVery good Sean, look forward to that-
Probably 24th or 25th, this month-
PeteTheBlokeMemberWhich day?
Kindrum is handy for some lovely spots – Andy’s Arch for one. Portsalon (below on Velvia).
It’s not very handy for Glenveagh or the famine village. There are some lovely loughs
near there with crannogs and stuff.
jb7ParticipantNice bit of Velvia Pete, must bring some…
Which day?
Well, both days for me, so whichever suits-
Any chance you’ll make it out?PeteTheBlokeMemberI’ll try to be there. Sunday may beat Saturday for me, but it’s all family-dependent.
jb7ParticipantcathaldParticipantGola island has a few old abandoned houses and a school
but I am not sure what way the ferry run’s this time of yearGlenveigh has ”glen walk” where you can see old settlements
Glenveigh is about 30-40 mins drive from where you are stayingjb7ParticipantThanks Cathal-
that’s exactly the kind of info I was looking for-Yes, ferry might be unlikely this time of year-
what size ferry is it, do you know?
wonder if they might be able to be persuaded…The one in Glenveigh sounds good too-
might there be more…MartinParticipantIf its a small enough group and the weather forecast is looking half decent I wouldn’t mind popping up for the weekend to take a few shots if that would be ok…..
M
aoluainParticipantjb7Participantvery good-
barring disasters, I’ll be there anyway…
but if everything works out, and there’s a bit of weather,
it’d be good to meet up up there and do some pictures-PD_BARBSParticipantI might be up for this depending on getting a pass, but it should be abit of fun. Unless you get the weather and light you won’t get much at Glenveagh at this time of year, but a great spot all the same.
