I was thinking that a scoringsystem might be usefvul – to determine the running score for all legs. This would provide a score based on position.
There are 21 of. What about the following:
Position=Score
1 = 20
2 = 14
3 = 10
4 = 8
5 = 7
6 = 6
7 = 5
8 = 4
9 = 3
10 = 2
11 = 1
12 = 1
…i.e. the top 10 receive a premium score, with the top 3 receiving a greater marginal premium. Positions 11 to 21 receive a score of 1.
Perhaps the mathematicians could advise of how this would work out?
I think I’ll give this sime more thought – otherwise we might never catch JB7!!
Don’t mind keeping score – spreadsheet already set up.
Need to agree teh loading.
Perhaps:
12, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1 …Any comemnts?
Result table would looksomething like:
Obviously, I’ll complete it at the end of the leg.
What if somebody doesn’t complete a leg? Score of 0?
Finished at last – despite ripping a sail with only about 3 miles to go!
I just noticed the clock has gone into countdown mode – I’ve 1 day & 22 hrs to get 643 miles. You’d never get a hurricane off the coast of Africa, would you??
Why not just use the F1 and WRC system, Brian.
If you’re outside the scoring places (8th or so) it’s just tough luck and try harder next time.
Seems a bit unfair that someone who comes 14th should get the same points as someone who finished 11th.WRC & F1 first 8 places points allocation: 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

Using Mick’s scoring suggestion:
I think Mick’s suggestion will probably work out best, so we’ll go forward with that, if that’s OK.
8th position is still provisional at this stage.
I think Andy has been hit quite hard in the exchange,
dropping 3 points to my 2, and Pete the Boat’s one- for example-Still, no problems with it, that I can think of-

Next leg starts in a day or so, I don’t think I will make to Cape Town in time..! TheHighKings – nul point..

Game is now blocked at work and having moved house I no longer have broadband. Pointless trying to continue because you need to be in touch at least 2-4 times a day to be in with a chance.
