A few months ago I posted some pictures of my friend Su.. very pregnant and expecting a baby Girl.. well Oisin turned out not to be a girl.. :) We were back in the kitchen with the white sheet and natural window light for this one – I’m working on a panel of 6 similar ones from the day .. and of course I hope that Su likes them ….
C&C welcome

jb7ParticipantLovely picture for one so young Lorraine, I like the format, and the composition works very well- lovely diffuse lighting- I’m on a roll here, aren’t I?
It all works very well, fab portrait.
Only thing I would change might be to blur out the fold in the sheet above, but only if you’re looking for perfection.I think I’m losing my touch…
j
ThorstenMemberAin’t that cute! :D
You should check out Malcolm Matthiesson’s work – nothing more than a white sheet and in a 15 minute shoot he’s got a whole range of shots to seel to the parents.
Jay KingParticipantThat’s reeeealy nice… I love the composition and crop.
The eyes have a real life to them… especially with those eyelashes. Nice work.
ciaranParticipantI’ve said it already, but it’s just superb. Your best image ever to date. Well done :)
LoGillParticipant:D
JB – He’s pretty cute :) I was going to blur out the fold from the sheet – (darn your keen eye ;))
Jay – He has gorgeous eyes – looks like they’ll be brown
Thorsten- thanks for the link – I have a couple more friends expecting babies and they all want photos so I’ll be trying to get as much inspiration as possible :)
Ciaran – Ta ;) I’m chuffed with it
Thanks so much for the feedback.. I really like it myself. He is very cute but was surprisingly harder work than I was expecting :)

PixelleMemberHe’s a beautiful baby. How old is he? I’m looking forward to seeing more of your baby pictures.

He’s one month old.. and MY baby pictures would need restoring at this stage ;) .. this one is the best of the bunch from the shoot so it would all be downhill from here :)
Lorraine
JohnnyMcMillanParticipantHeya Lorraine….really nice shot! But are the lips a tad bit on the blurred side…? Just a thought
AllinthemindParticipantNicely done Lorraine :) try doing a horizontal flip on it (left is right, right is left), just for interest.
The tonality range is perfect for this shot (this is what I’d call a high-key shot), eyes are brilliant (in all senses of the word), DoF on the mouth, who’s to say, it’s a lovely soft shot, composition is interesting, doesn’t quite “gel” for me, but I’m sure Mum will love it and I love that you’re experimenting and delighted that it’s not a floating head in a sea of white.
I hope that you feel chuffed with this shot.
Si
LoGillParticipantJohnny – the lips are a smidge soft I guess thats the the DOF – have to watch that next time i see the little wriggler :)
Si – Thanks .. I’ll try out your flipping suggestions later ;) I am chuffed with the shot .. but like all these things the more I look at it the more I see how I could improve it :)
Thanks for the feedback
L
carlParticipantLovely shot Lorraine, great eye contact and I like the composition. Your attention is drawn immediately to the eyes because you have used just the right amount of depth of field IMO. Well done.
AliParticipantWhat a cutie :). I really like this and you should be chuffed with it. I think you could work a little bit more on the eyes, a tad bit soft. I’d like to see more of a glaze if that makes sense. The unconventional crop looks really really well :) Well done.
LoGillParticipantThanks Carl .. that was about as relaxed as he got :) so i was very happy to catch it :)
Ali – I appreciate the feedback.. You’re right about the eyes… they could do with a bit more “punch” I’ll fiddle with that before printing .
Thanks again :)
L
gerardkParticipantJust saw this now – excellent shot, love the framing and the dof on this one.
