Beautiful work Lorraine. One to be proud of. Don’t forget to post the rest of the panel when you’re done with it. Superb.

Well done Lorraine, superb image and i love the vertical crop, very different.Best thing about this shot is the captivation of baby by yourself of course, look at those eyes.I bet a color version would be equally as appealing.

I have lately being experimenting using a flash behind the sheet just to blow it slightly even if its just to get those dreaded creases out which is why i hate shots with muslin backgrounds. Also by adding different gels to it it can change the mood ever so slightly.

Customers love High Key regardless of the floating baby syndrome which i prefect  so looks like its here to stay but as Simon mentioned this is the perect example of how it should be done.
    Well done.
    Ben.

Thanks a million :) I’m pleased with them but I can already see loads of things I would improve on given the opportunity again .. but I guess thats the joy of this photography lark :)

I gave the large mounted prints from the competition to Mum – so she was over the moon.. keeps trying to pimp me out to all her new Mum friends  .. .. so two birds and one stone and all that :D

    Thanks again!

    These are special pictures.

Your comment about the competition illustrates just how utterly futile it is to attempt to judge one picture as being *better* than another. These are beautifully shot, and my first thought is that they have a real *human* value and significance. The parents, and maybe the little subject (horrible word – the baby), will undoubtedly cherish and treasure these for a lifetime – long after the competition is forgotten.

Thanks for the comments :) You’re right about the “judging” aspect of club competitions, its so subjective, sometime to your benefit and sometimes not. But … putting the panel together was a big challenge for me and I’ve learned an awful lot in the process.. so .. although I didn’t “win”, this panel was worth the effort both in terms of giving my friends a special gift and also in terms of my developing photography…

I was still robbed though

    ;)
