Old Dublin

kavanadbParticipant
These are from a collection I’ve been working on about the gritty, back alley side of Dublin.
Not strictly travel photography as i live here but it’s the most fitting category.
Thanks for looking, and tell me if you like any particular pics, i’m trying to find out which are the best.
aoluainParticipantHello Desmond,
I absolutely love these.
The processing is fantastic and really authentic looking.
I especially like the first and last images. What equipment did you use?
Alan
mgstParticipantossie13ParticipantkavanadbParticipantCheers for the feedback! I thought the processing suited the mood of the parts of Dublin I was photographing, I love the cities old gritty feel sometimes.
These were taken with a nikon D40x with just the packaged 18-55mm lens. I added vignettes to the shots afterwards and adjusted the curves to make the light more dynamic too. number 1 and 3 have obvious colour treatment too!
The rest of the pictures from this set can be found here;

bingbongbiddleyParticipantkavanadbParticipantthe second one was taken on the hill near christchurch and the last one was taken in ringsend near the gasworks, thanks!
alancotterParticipantMy particular picks would have to be 1, 3 & 4.. The composition and processing is just spot on.. well done.
DeeboParticipantLovely set that portrays the city I feel.
The processing is great I have to say, my pick is 2 and 5Dee
kavanadbParticipantAlan and Dee, thanks! Its great to get feedback on these, i’m a bit nervous about them to be honest because i’m exhibiting a couple of them next month in a small gallery, its the first time ill have done anything like that! The website of the show is http://www.dublens.ie . Its very small but a cool opportunity!
MartinOCParticipantVery nice set, and congratulations on the exhibition.
These and the ones on your site all very interesting.
It look like it will be a strong exhibition, all exhibitors look to be very good, but no need for you to be nervous.Martin
rodomanMemberI love 2 & 4. No ” makes me want to tilt my head everytime i look at it
rodomanMemberjb7ParticipantThat’s a good set-
strong sense of design in all of them-I think the garages is the most intriguing to me,
though the last is too, and any of them with people in-Quite a warm tone to all of them-
it might work here,
but could be a bit much if you were to print them-The big ones are very highly compressed,
so I can’t really see the quality of them, and how they were made,
but good strong compositions-Not sure they tell me anything about Dublin-
they could be from any number of towns-
they’re almost non-specific regarding the location-Good set-
