Old Head Beach, early one morning. ***3rd version added!***

Over in Westport for the May BH weekend, got up early one morning with the camera and headed out. Spotted these two exploring the beach and went for it…… problem was, as it was just after dawn, the sun was low and in my face -so although misty, it is a tad blown (understated or what!).

Anyway, I did my best and printed it out. Looks good (A4), but there is a lot of white. So I gave it a wash.

    Any preference or advise?

I wouldnt mind the blown areas, it has a nice atmosphere, I would convert it to mono
though, the colours are so subtle they dont add too much IMO.

The second is nice but the tone gives an old feel, which can be nice too.

Thanks Alan, printed the white bits ae about 50% of teh shot, but while I like the atmosphere this adds, I think there is just too much.

I agree with the 2nd looks yee olde, which is nice too.

I will sleep on it (Ive been on the go since 5am and am just back in time for the Leeds game)….. I think I have a portrait one that may reduce the sunny bit…..

Hi, personally i like the first one, especially the little flash of green on the right. maybe cropping a small bit off along the top would balance the amount of white a little?

Okay, I think I prefer the colour version myself.

I found a portrait one (of the 3 shots before they left), which I cropped to a square format to keep the blown sun down, but still part of the shot as it is an important part of the overall feel. I added a touch of warm up filter too.

    Hi Des,

Yea I like this too, you did well there with the square crop
to keep the blown bits out, but still retaining that fel from the
    first.
