Old house on the hill

I took this shot, again while out doing a walk around the home place playing with my new camera. It is an old clay house on a small hill. I was trying to make it interesting but then decided to just use it as a background.
I got low and focused on some grass instead and placed the house in the background. It was at f/10 At the time I didn’t know that is I had used a smaller aperture I could have maybe brought the house into focus. If I was to do that, I may have needed a tripod to cater for the slower shutter, which I didnt have. But I think it works well.
I just up’d the contrast in post and also a bit of saturation. I was told that I could have put a bit of a gradient in the sky to give it more character, I might still do it at some point.

I think the fact that you focussed on a part of the scene
that was quite close to you had a big part in throwing
the house out of focus.Changing to a smaller aperture might not have brought the
house in to focus if your focussing point remained very close to
the camera.It’s good to experiment with the different settings that have
an influence on what is perceived to be in focus in an image.The lens you use, the F number and the point of focus all
interact and what results the different settings give is
very handy knowledge to have.Cheers.

Nice image just the same
the out of focus grass closest to the camera doesn’t work for me, it kinda hangs there. I’d prefer just in focus at front fading to house and blue horizon.
