Old Mill at Annalong, Co. Down
-
ClondaraParticipant
Taken at Annalong harbour on one of those rare fine days earlier this year. I’ve tried to remedy the rather flat look of the original by producing a pseudo HDR which I then subdued a bit by blending with the original. Not sure if I succeeded .. so C&C welcome.
guthrijParticipantshutterbugParticipantLovely shot, at the risk of cramping it I would crop out the modern
bungalow in the background, very chocolate boxy :)ClondaraParticipantThanks folks.
Jenny: Thanks for confirming my misgivings about that bungalow. It should never have been granted planning permission in the first place as it obscures the view of the Mournes….so I’ve demolished it rather than losing the ancient waterwheel in a crop.
dave100ParticipantHi Tom,
I think this is a really nice mill that you’ve shot in this image and the crop works well cutting out the view of the bungalow that was to the r.h.s of the original.
I noticed that you’ve checked Yes to Edit my picks so I took the liberty of satisfying my own curiousity and Johns by desaturating your image and adding a warming filter to it.. Hope you dont mind
I think it brings out the detail in the brick work myself but that’s only my opinion..

ClondaraParticipantHi Daithi,
I’m glad you liked the picture. I admit to yourself and John that I haven’t been a fan of B&W and its variants as an alternative to colour. However, your work has added a certain charm of its own in this case and I do agree that the stonework has more ‘sculpture’ to it. So many thanks for your time and effort on it.kenhParticipantLove the version with the cropped out bungalow, but I think it loses the overall interest when converted to B&W.
Great shot Tom – one for the “best of” section!
