One Holga image
-
EddieParticipant
Thought I might have a few Holga images to upload but I only got one decent scan from the roll. Here it is !
jessthespringerParticipantVery cool Eddie. Very nice scene, quite fairytaleish.. I just love that tree on the left.
What film were you using?
Sinead.
MartinParticipantThis is a nice one. Holgas can be surprisingly sharp in the center at times like in this shot. Great range of tones in this. The sky will look fab in this when worked on in the dark room im sure as there is detail there
Really must get out my Holga again, i have a few roles of neopan 400 in the fridge sitting there…

have been looking at your pics on monosnaps and love them all
The smoothness and blur and toning and vignette are beautiful
Any ideas where i can get my hands on a holga? Are there different types and if so what would be a good starter
Have lots of out of date Tri max which i’m putting thru the bronica at the momentall the best
GeoffEddieParticipantGeoff,
E-Bay from China is the cheapest. No risk as the money is so small. Mr Cad in the Uk also carries them I believe. Takes a while to get used to one, they dont work for all subjects so you have to be patient and selective in what you use it for. I get best results in strong sunlight something I avoid with my other cameras. They are light so easy to carry around. The one I am using is a 120n which is the basic model, has a very sharp central spot which I like. I have another one a modified one that has two apetures and cable release but it has not got that sharp spot, so there is a bit of luck involved. If you put a Holga on a sturdy tripod and use slow shutter speeds you dont need a cable release just hold down the shutter release.
Good Luck hope you pick one up.davedunneParticipantglassworks wrote:

You can get a good overview of the Holga at http://www.squarefrog.co.uk/
glassworksParticipantthanks eddie and dave for the info and help
its one of the great things about this site
the order for the holga 120N has gone off to hong kong and cant wait
for the yoke to arrive
the local photography shop will process the film and scan to disc for €5.00
so will post my first pic soon
geoffParadoxPicturesParticipantWow, this is a fantastic shot from a Holga! There is a fantastic eerie atmosphere going on…
I have just left in my first roll to get developed so time will tell if my Holga can make magic or not… I can’t wait! I really love the simplicity and lack of options. I am coming in from a hearty digital background so jumping to a really simple Holga is amazing. :)
Haha, even the novelty of not being able to review my shots is great… :)
EddieParticipantHope you get some decent images from your first roll, sometimes takes a bit of time to get to know what this piece of plastic can do. I see you are on Flicker so check out some of the toy camera groups, some really creative work going on there. Also experiment with different films, I have seen some good work with 1600asa films and they might be worth trying.
