One Last Time… The Final Round at the Rosebowl – 49 images

On Monday May 5th 2008, Tipperary International Speedway had to close its doors to drifting for the last time. Rosegreen has been the home of Irish drifting and has been attributed by many as the reason why Irish drivers learn so quickly, due to its ‘drift or wall’ setting. Having photographed there since the first ever round of an Irish drifting series back in 2003, it was an emotional day knowing that we will never see the likes of Ffrench rubbing the wall at over 80mph, sideways.

So here they are, the last ever shots from the Rosebowl, enjoy.

That’s a comprehensive set, really gives a flavour-
Stand out pictures for me include 24, 43, and 46-
looks like you had a good day for it-

Those pans seem to work well with a smaller aperture and a faster shutter-

Christ… 49 shots… that’s a lot to digest… some poor 56k’er is going to die a fright if they open this post.

Super work as always. Way too many posts to comment on individually… although that builder’s arse and hair cut in #17 do standout!

A stonking set. Excellent variety of angles.

10 and 12 stand out for me- absorbing detail. They sit perfectly.

I see the wall took a few victims…

Black and white processing is super as well.

Agreed on the shutter/aperture- you seem to be keeping the driver/windscreen and the front of the car sharp as well as getting good motion blur.

Are you planning to take your drifting photography further afield?

Not sure that #42 fits in. Certainly part of the story, but it lets own the series.

Ah come on lads, it’s hard to find anything to fault this set! I had to work hard to come up with that!

    excellent shots paddy, as allways.
sorry to see the rosebowl go…think they are building a new one in tipp somewhere-did ya hear anything about it?

B&W conversion really works so well, especially 43.

keep up the great work. :)
