One quick question for canon 40d users….

Is the EOS cleaning system on the 40d supposed to make a flickering sound when it’s shaking the dust off the sensor? Mine doesn’t make this sound.

I had a 400d before this 40d and everytime the screen said “Cleaning Sensor” you could hear the sensor flickering away inside.

    I’m just wondering if it’s broken…

    thanks

I’ve never heard mine shaking. I guess it’s silent. Same with the 1D MkIII.

But, I know what you mean. My girlfriend has the 400D and you can clearly hear it.

Mines silent too… although I am not sure how efficient the cleaning is… I’m starting to see dust bunnies again, and doubt I’ve hit 2000 actuations yet.

Never heard noise from mine either, however I had a lot of dust at one time and had it cleaned a couple of months back, but I am getting dust again now.
The dust delete doesn’t mean ANTI dust apparently so I guess one has to be ultra careful whilst changing lenses.

Cheers lads, was just about to investigate the cost of repair! :-O

I’ll repair it for you … at a reduced cost. :D

The anti-dust system is not designed to gather 0 dust, but rather to reduce dust. It will still require cleaning from time to time, like any SLR.
