Opinions & Advice on iMac
-
markst33Participant
I am thinking of diving in to the world of Apple and am looking at the 27 in iMac with Intel Core i5 2.7GHz Quad-Core Processor, 2X2GB RAM, 1TB HDD.
However I have never had an apple product before and before I go and spend this kind of cash I was looking for peoples opinions of this product or something close to it.
II have been told by numerous other photographers that the iMacs and Mac Books are the best when it comes to editing digital photography.
What do people think ? Have you had any problems with it. Things to ask or look out for when buying etc.
All comments very gratefully received.

beasleyParticipantIv had a MBP for maybe 7years and a 27″ iMac with a few months.
Good god I love the iMac. Editing photos is a out and out joy.
I was trying to hold off, there’s a new one over due but my MBP was starting to suffer with the volume of photos going through it.BrickerParticipantI moved from pc to iMac about 2 years ago. The transition isn’t as difficult as I thought and its a joy to use.
Mine has an i3 processor, and handles everything I throw at it……
If it broke, I’d buy another.
MartinParticipantWent imac 4 years ago. Wont buy another PC.
I have windows running in another partition on the mac if I need to dual boot into it but rarly use it…
Enjoy your mac

senodMemberHave been a dedicated Mac user at home and at work for fifteen years and would not look at another computer. It works! No blue screens, no cryptic messages on the screen, no crashing, no waiting for hours for a process to complete (did I mention PCs!?) I had a PowerMac at home but decided last year to go for the iMac on cost grounds. I haven’t been disappointed. It works like a dream and can easily handle my photography work.
Go for it!
IsabellaParticipanti love my iMac. switched from pc a few years ago and would never go back! (definitely think you’re printer will be easier dealt with through mac!)
stephenMemberhi, dont know if you have already bought one,but i would wait for the new ones coming out soon. thats an i-mac of course. and go for an i7 with 16 gigs of ram. don’t even think of buying a pc. the i-mac is the only one to get. best of luck.
markst33ParticipantI ended up getting a 2nd hand 21″ iMac (late 2011 model) with 16 gigs RAM on stephens day for €900. Have used it extensively now. have to say ….I LOVE IT……Soooo much easier using PS …no waiting ages for filters to be applied to images. opens immediately. Getting through lots more images per night rather than the 1 or 2 with windows.
