Otter in the morning on the River in Lucan Demense
shot last weekend, low light iso 1600, 400 mm, 1/100 f5.6. It was swimming at great speed with the current I wished I had more practice with the 400 mm lense shooting moving objects as it was hard to focus on it as it stayed on the surface only very briefly then diving and reappearing as much as ten metres awa. Nevertheless I can say I have shot an otter .
Ya got the shot and thats what matters :D Next time you can wait for it to show up….and wait…and wait… and give up and go home…and the next day when you haven’t got your camera..It’ll pose for you on the riverbank
Congratulations Brendan, I would love to see an Otter in the wild not to mention photograph him. I too have that lens for wildlife and it’s certainly easier to use in good light. The middle shot in your second post is pretty even if a little soft.
Well done for capturing the images, I’ve only ever encountered one once in the wild. Great to have them up here. Now you know they’re in the area maybe you’ll get some more shots to grace these pages.
