It’s great… I just love the serious stare, brilliant intensity in the eyes, then the attitude is somewhat compromised by the in-side-out shirt.
It is in-side-out, right? And, not just meant to look like that. Hard to tell sometimes. He still reminds me of the little boy in ‘gangs of new york’
Love it, although I do think the blacks could be a wee tad stronger.
Have you printed anything from it John? If you ever get around to making a handprint from it, it’ll blow you away completely.
You do seem to have something of a knack for portraits, I’m jealous of you, in a good way that is.Sinead
nfl-fanParticipantThanks everyone, appreciate it.
I liked it, but I wasn’t sure whether I had “fuzzy eyed father syndrome” combined with “I’m new to film and just delighted it came out” syndrome… as you do.
Ya it’s inside out Sinead, he turns a lot of his tops inside out as he wants stuff to be pure black… so he can be a Jedi n’ all that lark :)
I haven’t printed… that will be the next logical step and I would be eager to do it… I’ll have to get a few notions going though… (1) find out what gear is required (2) find out how the process works and (3) get up on ze rear end and go buy the equipment and set it all up… something for a rainy day I suppose.
Cheers
JExpresbroParticipantReally really nice John. As I said elsewhere, I’m really impressed with your progress with film.
I’m not in the least bit envious..honestly ;-)

nfl-fanParticipantCheers Robbie & everyone else on this thread for your comments and support.
A little confirmation that your heading in the right direction with a new process like this is nice and much appreciated.
J
5faytheParticipantHi John,
Your enthusiasm for the processes you are learning is leaping from
the screen and well done for that.Leaving aside for a moment how you achieved it, in my opinion you have produced
an excellent portrait here.
It is an engaging image which I would be very happy to have taken.Well done.
John.

Have to say it’s seriously alluring and totally redefines photography for me right now.
same here.
and I have to say I am truly impressed with your work.
I wanted to create something like ‘analog NFL appreciation group’.
meeting to be held monthly in Tulsk, with drinks courtesy of Ilford.nfl-fanParticipantHold the poney there Gizzo… hold the poney.
I’d say guys like Fintan, George, Joseph, Martin, Peter, Sinead & even yourself deserve way more appreciation for their efforts around here than me. There are leaders and there are followers… and I definetly fall into the latter where film photography is concerned.
BTW: I posted that list of people in alphabetical order so nobody thinks it might be my order of preference or anything… I’m sure I might have missed one or two. If you’re hurt just PM me and I’ll add you to the list.
J
GizzoParticipantwell I am definitely a follower.
and a slow one, since to date I managed to develop around 30 rolls between 120 and 35mm. and on the printing side of it, I am just at the very beginning.
but I admire your enthusiasm, that I have to say it’s contagious.
like a nfl-flu.nfl-fanParticipantThanks Giz… it’s nice when people see the positive side to the nfl-effect around here. Appreciate it.

He’s a great little model when the bribes are right.
Judging by his expression, the bribes will have to be more right in the future. Great shot btw….
Bartek WitekParticipantRobMemberHow did I miss this one…
Superb portrait John, really engaging. Nothing I don’t like
about this one at all…miki gParticipantnfl-fanParticipantThanks everyone… very surprised by the reaction to this… sorry for bumping the thread again.
