Out of the Blue

Sorry to spoil the party, but it’s a bit false looking to me.
I love the idea and the use of space.
The bottom bit of the waterfall is OK, just the “straight line” bit that jars with me. The calm water seems to be over-hanging the fall of the water.

Brilliant shot, and as Graham said not what I was expecting at all! It’s got a Dali-esque feel to it

He found a lovely calm section of water near a waterfall

For those asking how I did it, Sean hit it right on the head – a calm area of water near a small drop off in the riverbed. It really isn’t a difficult shot, it’s just “seeing” the normally unseen (if that makes sense???) I have just been trying VERY hard the last few years to “see” a small part of an overall picture. It’s easy to see the beautiful sunset but harder to see the sunset reflected in a small pool of water near the scene. This is what I’m trying to accomplish. Sometimes it’s easy for me and sometimes I really have to look at something for awhile to find that “nitch image.”

And, most importantly, thank you all for taking the time to comment. You made my day.

    …well, Brandyman, here you go:

I put my hand up and fully apologise for suggesting that this was not a “real” shot.
    I congratulate you, Robert.

I did say, and still think, that the image uses space beautifully.
There is just something that looks a little odd to me. Just my opinion. We are allowed opinions, aren’t we?!

I think the smoothness of the image makes it look like CG……but it isn’t! Simple and very effective

    Well impressed.

The funny thing is that the rest of us have probably walked past a similar scene loads of times and did’nt “see” it.

    Top marks!

Looks like it’s not only nice, but successful as well. Well spotted and taken.

I was looking through a website from the US called http://www.betterphoto.com and spotted this. Has someone lifted your image Robert?

They’ve won a competition with it.
