The site isn’t responsible for people posting images they don’t own.
Its clearly stated in the rules that all images for critique must be owned by the photographer/member in question.By the way Robert55 didn’t answer any PM’s I sent him.
For what its worth now that Heather has thankfully clarified ownership, Robert55 will be banned.
Leaving all this aside, welcome to the site Heather, hope to see more of your excellent work.
Thanks
Alan RossiterParticipantThanks Heather and welcome to PI. I’d like to say it was a pleasure but it wasn’t. Going by the dates of your submission to betterphoto and that of Robert55 it was obvious what was going on but I had to be careful not to make obvious accusations. It was also obvious as I was viewing your premium site that this was your image given the unique style you show.
Lets have more of them on this site! :)
Alan.

Sounds like a great site with many great folks here. I think I will submit some of my work here soon!
 Great recruitment drive Andy!
Welcome Heather!
Great shot and some superb work on your website.Incidentally there is currently a big discussion going on at flickr about some photos stolen and sold.
As well as flickr reaction to the public outcry this brought along.Alan RossiterParticipantForgot to mention that Heather is leading the awards table on Betterphoto.com by a country mile, some 3 times more awards than the next nearest rival.
Modest as well as gifted!!
gerardkParticipantJust been reading back through some other posts and came across this one ;

Its possible that Heathers was not the first picture purloined like that. Pretty sad and shocking really – I cant understand the gain in using someone elses work to get compliments – I can understand selling somone elses work (as in the flickr case – though of course could never agree with it just that its understandable) just the idea of stealing someone elses work and posting it as your own for compliments is a bit disturbing.
andy mcinroyParticipantWell spotted. I always thought that Robert’s explanation on that shot was very vague.
Anyway, when I was surfing the net a week or so ago I came across this website (myphotoelements.com) that has a lot of Photography “stuff.” I started playing around with some of it and came up with the above image.
Looks like he’s been nicking from that site too.
Andy
DenverDollParticipantwow..he fooled me.. I am pretty naive though..but it still seems a bit pointless…kinda creepy too

For those asking how I did it, Sean hit it right on the head – a calm area of water near a small drop off in the riverbed. It really isn’t a difficult shot, it’s just “seeing” the normally unseen (if that makes sense???) I have just been trying VERY hard the last few years to “see” a small part of an overall picture. It’s easy to see the beautiful sunset but harder to see the sunset reflected in a small pool of water near the scene. This is what I’m trying to accomplish. Sometimes it’s easy for me and sometimes I really have to look at something for awhile to find that “nitch image.”
And, most importantly, thank you all for taking the time to comment. You made my day.

See how easy it is to go from a little bit of manipulation to out and out theft? Little crimes lead to big crimes; a wee toke on a spliff and before you know it you’re a crackhead. Robert55 is obviously a sad individual and we’ve been able to throw him a few crumbs that have cheered him. I reckon we should try to be understanding.
GrahamBParticipantSorry reactivating this one guys but I wanted to get my two cents in.
I had missed this whole thread as I was off the net for a few days. There have been dozens of shots on this site alone that I have looked at and wished I had taken.
I could never imagine copying the shots and displaying them as my own. I would however go out
and try my best to replicate the shot while also introducing my own style. What Robert55 did is criminal and I would love to put my technical background to go use tracking him down
any way I could, although I’m sure no good would come of it.My original comments on the shot still stand however, they are now simply directed at Heather.
I do feel a small amount of pity for Robert though. I mean if you were to copy someones shots would you really select a shot
from a person whose is top photographer on another website. Did he really think that nobody would notice.Fair dues to you Mr.Wonka. we should all watch each others backs for this kinda of activity.
