Out of the Fog

I’ve been shooting for many years but just in the last year have been teaching myself to use Photoshop. It’s addicting. I love taking an image that was okay but nothing to write home about and then transforming it into something worth looking at. There is a downside – if I spend any more time at the computer my better half is going to put me out with the dog. LOL

eddie65ParticipantconstantineParticipantThat is one very fine shot.
Really like what you did with it, looks to me like there is a raging forest fire somewhere out of shot. Class. Love it.
RodcunhaParticipantI really like the image and like the processing though I think you pushed it just a tad bit too far…
Really great skill though and you will surelly be a great contender in the photoshop challenge!
Regards,
Rod
GrahamBParticipantRobin Hood – the Clannad one with Sean Connerys’ son springs to mind.
I kinda like the end result to be honest. Visually very pleasing.LoGillParticipantA stunning shot – the atmosphere you’ve created does it for me. I wasn’t sure about the toning at first ..if it was a bit too heavy – but then I decided no.. it certainly works for this image… really lovely

Well once this site kicks in your in BIG trouble ;)

andy mcinroyParticipantI always like to see more unusual manipulated landscapes such as this.
The lighting effect is certainly wonderful. But I’m not sure about that deer in the distance. Looking at it closely and I’m tempted to believe that you drew it in? Did the deer ever exist? The neck and antlers don’t look believeable to me. But I can perhaps be convinced.
CSI Photography Ireland is on the case.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I really appreciate that.
LOL, You crack me up Andy. As a matter a fact, you’re right. The deer was added. As I stated in my first post, I have been shooting a long time and just “recently” gotten into Photoshop. I have a LOT to learn. Anyway, when I was surfing the net a week or so ago I came across this website (myphotoelements.com) that has a lot of Photography “stuff.” I started playing around with some of it and came up with the above image. It was a great way to spend a rainy afternoon and I learned even more Photoshop which is always a plus.
Here’s another one of my efforts –
andy mcinroyParticipantYes, Robert, I can understand that the deer was added.
But my question is, did that deer ever exist?
Andy
shutterbugParticipantI think its great, love the colour and atmosphere you have
created and deer (real or not) adds to the overall effect.
I love it and would hang it on the wall no problem. :)Robert55MemberHey, Andy. I didn’t understand your question. Sorry. No, the deer never existed in that original image. I got it on that myphotoelements site. I feel like shutterbug, I really didn’t care. It was just so much fun creating a neat photograph where one didn’t exist before. A whole new challenge for me with photograph AND photoshop. Here’s another one I just finished.

creating a neat photograph where one didn’t exist before I think there must be another name for it. “Photograph” implies something different. “Fantasy Art”, “Cartoon”, “Digital Painiting”? Not sure, but I am sure that photograph is the wrong word.
andy mcinroyParticipantWell my opinion is that if the deer actually existed then perhaps you could call it a computer created photographic montage.
If they deer never existed then it’s no longer a photograph. But I suspect that we are getting in deep water here. perhaps we should not even try to define it. It will only end in tears.
But in the end, I’m not sure about this sort of artwork being placed in a photographic forum. To me it all boils down to the existance of that deer. Which still hasn’t been answered.

Cogito, ergo sum.
The deer knows.Robert55MemberI guess I still didn’t understand and/or answer your question, Andy. I don’t have a definitive answer either as I don’t work for the company. But when you look around the website (and in the set of images I bought) they are all real animals, not graphic representations. Based on that then the deer actually did exist and was just cut out of the original image. That said, I think you are also right in that taking this too far “will only end in tears.” For me, it’s a fun creative expression and I’m waaay too old (63) to start putting my hands on my hips and taking a stand on something so harmless. For me, at this stage of my life, if it’s fun and doesn’t hurt anyone else then have at it. :)
