Drove down to Dublin for a meeting yesterday and was a few hours early. I went for a spin and a walk and took this down near the 40 Foot:

You realise your camera probably has the facility to fire off
a burst of flashes prior to actually taking the shot that helps to
    eliminate redeye?

Excellent capture Aidan, wingtip to wingtip. Just love
the colour in this one, from the grey/green water to that
    fantastic red eye. Super!

Thanks Rob. I did have a shot that filled the frame as it was landing. Unfortunately my camera’s auto focus wasn’t able to keep up with the bird as it came towards me. Ticked off about that. Think I have a few more of this bird as it was fishing around and as it caught this particular meal.

Aidan agree with Rob on this one an excellent shot Bird is caught in all it’s glory, like the way you can see lunch in its beak.

Thanks lads! Gotta admit I didn’t know it was carrying anything until I took my eyes away from the viewfinder.

Excellent shot Aidan Those buggers are hard to catch , they fly away as soon as you get near them,(well down here anyways) The head is pin sharp.I suggest you keep that one for the nature Competition next year, birds seem to have the edge the past few years. Well done and the food in the mouth is a great bonus
