Pagans

jb7Participant
Dunleary, again, just at the end of the East Pier,
Pagans gather to watch the dying of the Sun God.Though it seems like he’s really dead, for now-
Roll on springtime-All comments welcomed, as usual-
Jakki LeonardParticipantIt’s a really nice shot. I like the dark silouettes against the blue sky. Its really cool- although nothing really indicates Pagens, other than the description. Still great though.
jb7ParticipantAs far as I am aware, the word ‘Pagan’
comes from the same root as the modern French word ‘paysan’
meaning ‘peasant’ or country folk. nothing more sinister than that.So when I’m doing the Dawn Dance at the top of the hill at Glastonbury,
I feel like a bit of a pagan, but look a lot like a peasant.Anyway, the word has probably been corrupted
by so much New Age Mumbo Jumbo
that it now means a man with a beard in a dressThanks for the comment, glad you like it–
:D

tomas.tornyosMemberHi,
this shot is a bit pale to my eyes. It looks as if it was directly out of camera, maybe some photoshoping would make the sky more dominating.
The overal lighting of the picture is rather cold, but there is narrow stip of sky lit by the sun already behind the horizont which disturbs me. It si noticable, but not stong enough to add drama to sky.
jb7ParticipantThanks tomas, sorry for the disturbance,
i presume you mean something like this? Very quick edit-
ciaranParticipantOverall it’s a little bit dark for me and the silhouettes are too cluttered to really make them work well. You seem to get a lot of inspiration from this pier, but personally I don’t think this is one of your better ones.
jb7ParticipantToo dark, too light-
thats the last time I’m gonna be so accommodating- :D
For the record, my one is the top one-j
PeteTheBlokeMemberI prefer the lighter one. There’s a lonely sort of feeling about it.
I wish it was more obvious that they were pagans, but I don’t know what to expect really: a fire? a goat’s head?
TangoMemberGreat shot. That is one of my favourite places. In fact i’m looking over at it from where i work now :)
I think the exposure is just right. i know the feeling of the sharp sea air when you are out there and i think you captured it perfectly.T.
jb7ParticipantThanks Pete and Tango-
this one seems to have polarized opinion-
I kinda like the way the group of people fell into this pattern for just a split second-
the way they all seem to group around the central figure-
personally I would say they are anything but cluttered-Titling pictures is a new thing to me,
and I never did it before I started posting on the internet-
in a way I don’t think its that important,
but every case is different-Thanks for looking, and for the comments-
j
earthairfireParticipantCan’t see it I’m afraid. Seen some great shots from you J, but this one just looks like a random snapshot to me…
Maybe I’m missing the point, but really not sure what else to say!
Tim
John DunneParticipantThats a wonderful shot. I prefer the first version. Great amount of interest in the picture
jb7ParticipantThanks John,
appreciate the comment-
a marked difference in colour between this one
and your recent shots though-j
