Honestly, so difficult to tell with some of these..even after it says these are not photographs. Don’t think I will believe it 100% until I see something like that with me own two eyes :)
AnonymousParticipantNice to have seen it Vee. I don’t really see the point of it though. I would like to think if I had that talent
I would be painting something different but maybe in their minds they already are?sndipoMemberYes, I was thinking the same but suppose it’s just one aspect of their drawing talent. Surely one can’t be just drawing photograph-like pictures and nothing else? Just thinking that if a person is out to look to buy a nice picture, the effort put in would be the factor that would make them choose the painting over a real photograph, regardless of the two looking the same :P
The bad news is that if this kicks off, photographers will have more of a competition in the market and known as it is, that is not what is needed :DAnonymousParticipantWhat price though would they be charging for a painting?
I can only imagine it would be a lot more expensive due to the amount of time & effort put in to it.
Like photography I suppose, materials ain’t cheap!MurchuParticipantGreat technical talent alright, but does remind me of the Picasso quote – ‘It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.’..
IsabellaParticipantin art historical terms photography is often described as having freed painting from having to represent reality.
why would be a massive question for me… years ago i used to paint as realistically as possible just for the challenge of doing it. now i dont see why i would bother… whats wrong with a photograph?
but i would imagine the artists in question get something out of it that makes it worthwhile for them, so more power to them!
markst33ParticipantI remember in art history and appreciation in school we were told that one of the reasons why painting developed into different branches such as cubism, bauhaus and what we tend to term “Modern Art” was because of the invention of the camera. Art need to adopt a different approach to cope with the speed and reproductive quality of a camera so maybe this is a case of “what goes around……” :)
