    Some people shots, all from north Pakistan, Gilgit region and border.

    Really impressive photos. I love the first one, reminds me of some of Alex Webbs work, busy composition, but rich with interesting faces and things going on. You sure weren’t shy taking photos of people anyway, great work!

    Thanks Desmond, by and large people had no problem having their photo taken in this country, well men anyway…..

    one thing i find interesting is the Hitler moustache on the chap playing the bagpipes…..some of the fashions in this part of the world derive from the time that the Brits were still there, and at this type of moustache is an example, and obviously that era pre-dates WWII.

    For me this is your best set yet. All the photos are technically very good, and together they make a great snapshot of life out there. Together they seem full of character and interest in the people, i.e. documentary rather than superficial tourist.

    Good stuff,

    Thanks guys;

    The outdoor pool, as per the second photo, is quite a popular pastime in Pakistan and West China; ……with the mountain background & strong sun this was quite surreal….

    The other popular ‘sport’ in these parts is table football…like many Irish blokes I would be reasonably handy at both pool and table football, so this was a great way for me to interact with people…

    I have to say that I love the outdoor pool table shot too. It is beautifully framed- from the sweeping mountains to the coloured clothes on the line.

    I like the sound of their past times… Finally you can turn a ‘misspent youth’ into a great ice-breaker before taking some amazing portraits.

    Great work :)
