Passing the minutes

Okay..don’t laugh!! But this is my first attempt at setting a depth of field without just using the zoom lens to attain it. Obviously I had little else to do in the office this afternoon!! :)
But anyway, I fiddled with the F settings and the shutter speed settings till I got the right light level and DOF I was looking for. Wasn’t paying particular attention to the main focus but I think it’s okayish.
Got a real buzz when I managed to make the clock de-focus (is that the word?). I know it’s pretty basic stuff…..but was kind of a mini milestone for me… :D :D
Btw..shot it in Macro mode with no flash, handheld (Don’t have a Tripod in work.

Date: 2006-12-14 14:11:06RobMemberI have no idea what this is, but it’s a cracker of a picture in my opinion. Really well exposed for the blacks with every corner and curve discernible. It would look really well printed and mounted in a simple black frame.
Rob.
PeteTheBlokeMemberI like it too. I think you might have framed the “thing” a bit better, but the impact it makes in that lustrous black is smashing. Well done.
ExpresbroParticipantThanks Rob. It’s actually one of those mobile phone holders made out of welded nuts and bolts and made to resemble somebody singing with a microphone. I shot it up close so it looks a lot bigger than it actually is…
It’s what happens when I have time on my hands. :D
ExpresbroParticipantI agree about the framing Pete, but like I said..I was all caught up in trying to get the depth of field right and wasn’t paing that much attention to the framing aspect. I’ll have to look at the original again and see can I move it a bit to the right..though I think it is pretty much as I took it. Just did a little bit of sharpening and chrome conversion.
Thanks for the comments anyway :D
Noely FParticipantGreat angle for the shot, “Quirky” is the word that springs to mind  Nice one.
