Here we go again with another square crop. I guess I like the square crop, what do you think…..
Taken in my Ma’s Kitchen, I know that there is a bit of a shadow to the bottem right of the face, I guess I could clone it out. Shot using the Speedlite SB400 mounted on the cam’s hotshoe.
As portraits go John, I think you’ve done a pretty good job here. It’s always a little more difficult when the subjuect is wearing glasses, but I think you’ve coped well with it here. Skin tones look good and it’s pretty much sharp all over. The lighting might just be a touch too harsh though..especially around the forehead area. Personally I’m not a fan of square crops for portraits..I like to leave a bit more space wherever the subject eyes are looking into space. But that’s just a personal thing….
I think you’ve captured your subject well and I’m sure he’s pretty happy with it John … 8)
That is right tha you really managed well with the glasses, as it is easy to get reflections on them.
Maybe as Expressbro said, the light is a little too harsh, as there are almost no shadows, I agree that it is a style. For me, I prefer to have some light shadows to give some relief.
