Was at Patterson Spade Mill today, a National Trust property near Templepatrick. I’d been a few years ago, but really enjoyed going again. I’d highly recommend it to anyone, the tour takes around an hour but worth a visit if you are in the area. Would be great to do a proper shoot inside the workshop, either with some off-camera flash or even just a tripod. Sadly I had neither, so with the very small amount of available light (typical of blacksmiths etc.) I was stuck shooting handheld at ISO1600 and 1/6s. Image noise was fairly bad on my 350D as you might expect, but I thought the IS on the 17-85 did a fairly good job of keeping everything reasonably sharp. Think its somewhere might have some potential with the right equipment?
Thanks for the comment, been away for a few days so only getting a chance to reply now. Think will take my tripod with me next time I go (its handy being a NT member!), although I’m not sure how I can stop the windows being blown out on a longer exposure… maybe just not include them?
