Pentax K20D

I know there are a few K20D users around here.

I currently have a K100D, and while i was considering a used Canon 40D or K20D as a new camera, the Pentax cashback until the end of January has made me opt for the K20.
Best price i have found so far is one with the kit lens for 487euro with the 120euro cashback. – with the current weak pound i think its an amazing deal.

Now, ive done enough research to write a small book, but i guess im just looking for people’s personal experiences with the K20. And maybe if anyone’s had a similar upgrade path.

Also would anyone have a very rough estimate what I might be able to sell me K100D for?
Its about 2 years old, but only taken 5100 photos.

    Cheers,
    Conal

Did you buy the K20 in the end?

Yes, I did. very happy with my decision, its an amazing camera just need to start upgrading my lens collection now :) ( Just with old manual focus primes from ebay atmo)

I love it, a huge leap up from my K100D. It feels amazingly solid and image quality is excellent. No regrets getting it over canons 40D

Though i did think there were more pentax users on this forum for some reason! ;)

I managed to sell the Samsung GX-20. If it hadn’t been for the fact that I have a bag full of Nikon lenses going back 20 years, I would have kept it – it’s feature set is amazing in comparison to the so-called equivalents from the big manufacturers. I only took a few test shots to make sure the camera and lens were working properly, but I was amazed at how solid the camera was – it felt like it came from a class above.

And the Pentax standard 16-60 f2.8 zoom just won lens of the year from Amateur Photographer.

It seems like you can get great image quality and value for money in one package if you look at Pentax/Samsung. (It’s also surprising to see that the Pentax K20 sells for slightly less than the Samsung!)

Glad you like your camera. Enjoy! :D

your right, compared to the competition it really stands strong.

Pentax vs Samsung prices change alot, when i 1st started looking towards the end of last year the samsung was a good bit cheaper.

Do you mean the DA Star 16-50mm F2.8? Looks great but not exactly in my budget at the moment! :D
