Was out at Down Royal races at the weekend, mainly to take some pics of the horses, but couldn’t resist some shots of the race-goers too.
This lady looked as though she might have backed a winner….
A man who might know a thing or three about horse-racing….
Two ladies having a serious conversation….
A tense face before riding out to the start line….
TV presenter Pamela Ballentine was among the people enjoying the day out…
A bookie collecting bets from the punters….
Having a smoke break….
Watching the action on the race course….
A horse trainer chatting on his mobile phone….
Not a people pic, but it was quite funny to notice the congestion in the car park – not from cars but from helicopters belonging to wealthy race-horse owners….
Tnx – horse racing seems to attract lots of interesting characters which makes these events good places to take pictures! The guy holding the phone to his ear is Paul Nicholls, the leading National Hunt trainer (regarded by many as among the most successful in the business). He used to be a professional jockey but, as a trainer, has achieved many notable wins.
I mostly used a 70-200mm lens to take the pictures.
Pete – I did take some pictures of horses too, lol, but have posted them in the Sports section.
