Everywhere looks more beautiful in the snow. This is what Phoenix Park looked like at midnight last night as a couple inches fell in an hour or 2. Narnia?

I like these Pete, like the desolation of them and the high contrast, they feel really cold.
They have an eeriness about them too, which I like.

    Love the last one.

Congrats on getting out in this weather.
Re #1, I see you have gone for symmetry based on the fences. Aother suggestion would be to tale a step or two to the right and line up on the black strip on the road. Just an idea, though that might have unbalanced it totally.

Just noticed that you took this at midnight. What were the settings??

Thanks Sinead. Was thinking of your stuff when I took that last (deliberately) oof one. Really happy with the etherial quality.

Thanks Pixelle. I was driving home and stopped to have a roll in the snow… Shot at 1sec between f3.5-5.6 (depending on zoom) at ISO 200 (which is already getting very noisy). There was quite a lot of light with the reflective snow. I balanced my Ricoh compact on the roof rack of my car—gotta improvise at a moment like that! Brought them to life in Lightroom.

Valid comment about the symmetry in the first one. Unfortunately I didn’t have enough light to handhold, and my car was my ‘tripod’ but there were cars travelling down the road… a perfectly symmetrical shot wasn’t possible! I think a symmetrical shot would have been nice!

Oh, you must be using film – of course.

The webernet/tinternet thingy probably doesn’t do these justice. I would like to see the second in print. Have you printed them yet?

These are great, and somewhat different.

My favorite would be the 1st. Balance wise it would have been easier to move a tripod into the middle of the road rather than the car! I wouldn’t worry about it now though…. It does look like it needs a visit from the horizon police IMO?
