the light on the island is lovely
like the way the hand rail mimics the shoreline too
i am not sure i like the look of the steps, they kinda look like very false tones. i am unsure about how the rail also leads my eye out of the side of the image
i would be interested in seeing it in print, as on a nice fine art paper i think it could look very nice
EnzymeParticipantHi Steve
I just wanted to get the light on the island and for everything else to have quite a cold cast. I really like the green algae covering the steps and as you say I enhanced it to bring out the greens. I print it on Hahnemuhle fine art pearl and it looks cool.I actually had another version where more handrail is included. I just thought the composition was a weaker. I really want to go back in the morning before sunrise to get some nice shots. It won’t be too easy cos once the sun comes up you are shooting into it. Not this view but others I took.
Many thanksEnzymeParticipantHi Steve
I just toned down the greens slightly on the image. I have kept the contrast though. Have a look and see what you thinkstcstcMemberphotorag pearl is very very nice, i use it too
you should have a look at some of the new canson papers they are stunning
i have a set of samples if ya wanna look
the greens kinda look as if they have lost a little punch, although i am now looking at it on my laptop instead of my main monitors
i will just have to pop round and look at the print, :-)
loustalotphotographyParticipantI’m found of this kind of photos. Unfortunately Dalkey island is just a point although colors that result from the sunset balance the picture.
EnzymeParticipantThank you. Ya when the image is so small it’s not so evident. It makes more sense at a larger size.
JMac-2006ParticipantHad a look Enda
I have to say it looks very good – you could nearly lose the top bit and still have a strong image – though sorrento terrace and dalkey island have great light on them and add a locational context i guessps. something i noticed when viewing your site was the images flashing when clicked – they seem to flash a couple of times before settling – found this quite offputting and difficult to look at – has anyone commented on that to you before? besides that you have some really beautiful images of some of my favourite locations – well done!
EnzymeParticipantThanks Jason. Ya I prefer to keep the island in cos they give it context and I do like the way the sunlight is just on the island and everything else is in shadow.
The reason it flashes for an instant is it’s not adobe flash, it’s html, but I wanted it to look like flash (as in adobe flash in case I’m confusing everyone…..which I do quite a lot). Not sure of the tecnhical jargon behind why it flashes. I think it’s something to do with the layermasks which are applied over the image as it goes from one to the next.
The reason I did it in html is to be able to add and remove images and it’s better for SEO.I’m continually working on the Dublin Project. I’ll post more as they are done.
I know when my web designer was creating the site he had to tweek the settings cos the flashing had been a problem for me in the early stages
