Sounds fantastic Aidan, I am starting my “escape fund” as we speak :)
Worth every penny…..or cent! With small numbers like that you cant but
learn, where you lucky with the weather? Is the climate similar to here but
colder in winter? I bet the scenery was wonderful too. Your pictures tell a
wonderful story of your trip.ExpresbroParticipantCan’t wait to see some of the results from the trip Aidan..sounds brilliant!!
There was talk here on PI last year about organising some one or two day fly in/fly out trips to some interesting European neighbour cities. This would be a relatively inexpensive way of doing our own Photo trips and utilising the expertise here on the site.
Flights to most of the major European cities can still be had quite cheaply..but that’s a whole other days discussion I suppose
:D
DeeboParticipantHi Expresbro
Got this link in an email the other day, for Slovakian mountains and reasonably priced

AK CarlowParticipantI had a photo holiday in Iceland in July. It was a group of 5, organised on a Pentax discussion list on the internet, so not only were we all photographers, we all had similar equipment. We hired a car and drove until something caught the eye, then all piled out and took pictures until everyone was finished – no rushing, no guilt about holding up non-photographers – it was fantastic. We were out of Reykjavic Mon-Fri, and some of the group were around in the capital the weekend before or after. Although we could compare techniques during the day we were generally back so late in the evening that we had no time for group reviews, though we did do a bit with the remnants of the group on the following Saturday.

Mike Brown had been there in April of last year and was lucky to get a few shots. It was wet and lakes were frozen over.
The landscape is fantastic up there. We flew into Trondheim, allegedly a city with 200,000 people. All I could see were buildings interspersed with forest when we landed. Huge fjords, clear water, roe deer and moose everywhere. In the morning on the boat we usually had still water and the only sound you could hear was the water lapping up against the boat. Not a car, motorbike or lorry to be heard anywhere. Our focus was purely on eagles so we didn’t do any landscapes. However, I reckon a person doing a roadtrip that was into landscapes would be in heaven up there.
EDIT:
This photo was taken after we had rescued the same 3 Czechs 3 times in one evening.
shutterbugParticipantThat looks fantastic Aidan, now Ryanair are flying there, maybe I have more of a
chance of getting there.Broadford1ParticipantHi Jenny,
