Hi all,
Im trying to get my business to break the wall down. Im still stuck but full of idea!
I can shoot, retouch, manipulation, layouts albums, design collage for portrait frames, etc. I think my weakest point is the marketing. Is there anyone I should go to and talk about my tons of ideas that can help me to direct to the right path? Maybe a photography mentor advice?
Northern Ireland has an organisation called CIDO which runs the “Go For It” course. This covers all aspects of setting up a business – Finance, Marketing, writing a Business Plan etc. Free too. Maybe there’s something similar in the Republic?
For the past year I have been doing some consultancy work for various photographers and many who are in a start up situation. I find that the vast majority do not need too much photography advice at all, but almost all need to up their marketing and business skills. One can no longer sit and wait for the inquiries to come in …….. you must make them happen and never be afraid to seek “closure of the deal”. I will be doing a workshop for 2 photographers in Kildare on Tuesday next “Pricing for profit ” and having already studied both their business, I notice their marketing is non-existant.
