Photography contracts

Hi,
I am currently starting up my own photography business and I’m trying to get things done one step at a time, but I’ve got a few weddings approaching fast and I am aware that I need to get contracts sorted out quickly for these clients.
Can anyone tell me what the best and fastest way of getting this done is?
Also, if anyone can point me in the direction of what kind of insurance I should be thinking about and where is best to get it, i would be very grateful. I have tried one or two Irish insurance companies, however they do not offer insurance for photographers. I do not have a studio, so would only be working on location with clients.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice,
AnthonymarkcapilitanParticipantI’m sure there’s a thread here somewhere about insurance, do a search and it’ll come up. What you need – cover for your kit, PL for peace of mind (some hotels require it…I’ve not come across that yet). PI in case of some disaster with the pics and the couple go after you for compensation.
Contracts really should be signed when the couple book you, to be safe. The content of the contract will be specific to your business and how you do things.
Good luck with it!ThorstenMemberThe AOP book, “Beyond the Lens”, mentioned elsewhere on this forum by Ashley Morrison, would be a good place to start looking for info on contracts. In fact, there are standard contracts provided in the appendix which you can download as a PDF file here. This should serve as a good basis from which to get started but ultimately, a contract specific to your needs is the way to go.
easParticipantHi Anthony
I believe the SWPP have stock contracts for members. I’ve been meaning to look into them myself

schquallyMemberMarkcapilitan, thorsten and eas, thanks for your replies and the information.
Mark, you were right about insurance – i have searched the boards and came up with a few options immediately.
Thorsten, thanks for the link to Beyond The Lens – it looks like it has a lot of what I need at the moment.
Eas, thanks for the link to the SWPP – I hadn’t realised how many Irish photographers are already signed up to it. I’ll check it out and let you know if I come up with anything interesting.pixelmadnessMemberGCPParticipantschquallyMemberPixelmadness, sorry, was writing away while you posted that and didn’t see it until now. That looks great – very handy to get a list of samples together like that.
I like the lists of questions and answers for clients too – always good to be aware of the questions you can be faced with!!
Thanks again,
Anthony
