Photography trip to Poland.

Hi….I probably should have posted this question earlier but a group of us from my local camera club
are heading to Poland on Thursday. We will be in the Krakow and Bielska-Bialo region.
Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations of must see sites from a photography
    point of view.
    Thanks,
    Martin

I’ve been to Krakow twice but from memory the ‘must see’ sites are mostly in the city centre. The edge of town is quite grotty, but maybe good for photography, massive communist style apartment blocks and so on.

I would recommend going to the old Jewish quarter which is about a 20 minute walk from the town centre and quite different in profile and atmosphere. Clearly there is no longer a Jewish population here, I think now a lot of students live there, its is quite ‘boho’, with a lot of flea markets that sort of thing.

Obviously when visiting Krakow, Birkenau is a site people should go to see if they feel up to it, camera or no camera.

I believe the salt mines are very interesting, haven’t been.

Zakopane has some fine mountain scenery, but still snow covered at this time of year….would imagine you would need an overnight trip (its a two hour drive I think from Krakow).

The train station could be a good spot for photos, a few shady characters there!

    Hi Liam,
Thanks for that. We have a few local guides lined up but I just
wanted to see if there was anything we should “steer” them
    towards.
Will post a few photos when I get
    back.
