Wasn’t sure if this is the right place to put this cause haven’t really done this sort of thing. So feel free to move it. But found this link with a few photos on it, taken from out of space by an astronaut. Worth looking, in my opinion!
I just spent an hour trying to figure the locations without reading the captions. My primary school teachers would be proud. I still got a passing grade.

Not much smoke, fog, or smog up there.
I think you might get info about the equipment he used on the same or some linked site. He used a 1200mm lens once, says on one of the captions.. Probably would be useful to read the comments under the pictures as well :)
I was surprised that most of them are very clean,too. Would think it’s a lot more smoggy up there..
