Why the hell did you put it into a critique forum if you are not happy with the comment…its people like you that really annoy me…its an awkward looking pose and no matter how long I look at it I still feel that its not a great shot…what do you want me to say…Its great…lovely lighting…lovely pose…lovely this…lovely that…grow up will ye and stop posting if you can’t take a bit of constructive criticism…just don’t bother any more…how’s that for a critique ??
Noel Browne.
ShahoffParticipantWho told you that I am not happy to receive critique? This is a way how I am learning, however peoples like you annoying me by throwing shit in the forum instead of explanation what they think is wrong. I am not going to teach you manners , but If I am saying to somebody that something I do not like, usually I am telling why , and if somebody put smile “:)” in a text its not mens that this is sarcastic respond.
Arrivederci
AndrewbrownieParticipantLook…obviously you weren’t happy with my comment that it was an awkward looking photo…let me clarify seeing as you want and are open to criticism now…its an awkward looking pose as opposed to an awkward looking photo as if the model just climbed into the tree trunk and you took a photo…no need to come back at me with your first comment…I log onto PI every day and I look around the different forums but you have to appreciate and take on board criticism when it is given…did the model like the shot ? Its just doesn’t look right as a model shot…she is crouched over trying to fit into the space etc etc…not going to get into an argument with you about…would be interested in other people’s opinions…just stop taking offence and you will get on a lot better with people.
Noel.
AnonymousParticipantI would agree with Noel regarding his comments about the first shot.
Not an image I would personally rate but the second one is beautiful.brownieParticipantIsabellaParticipanthonestly noel i think you are the one taking the hump here! you got super defensive over your comment, i didnt pick up any sarcasm or negativity until i scrolled down and saw what you wrote!
the model does not look comfortable at all in the first image… It is an interesting idea having her inside the tree but her expression for one thing is one of pain. the hand pulling through the hair is as though she is under severe stress and cant wait to get out of there, the arm coming down across her belly looks almost as though she is suffering from belly cramps or about to vomit.
the second one as all have agreed is much more appealing
bigalguitarpickerParticipantThe second shot is the better of the two, but could be better still. There’s an odd looking bit of OOF around her foot and the foreground is very much OOF, was the model photographed elsewhere and added into this scene? There’re also a couple of blades of grass tickling her posterior which I think should be removed. The OOF vignette should be removed I think. Is it a Tilt Shift experiment? Full marks for experimenting, but I don’t think it works here.
RASMITH32MemberI love the idea of the girl inside the tree. The flesh like vines work well with the skin colour of the girl and the lines from the vines and tree work nicely with those of the models legs, arms and falling hair. I love the way is is finely poised/ balance with one toe appearing to hold her in place.
You have tried something adventurous and different here and for that you should be applauded. Its very easy to critique and a lot harder to think outside the box and post for critique.
People appear to have missed the point on that shot, does she look awkward?….of course she does , shes inside a tree.
In relation to that shot, I would crop some of the top (dead space) and might try converting to black and white and boosting the shadows.
Good work

agree with isabella about Noel’s commentry.
a 4 word post doesnt add much to the op in terms of critique.
why is it awkward? im certain the hollowed out trunk of the tree was not a
space made to match the models physiqueI also agree that placing the model inside the trunk has some form of statement
and does create interest as isabella states.
