PI Trip to the Mournes – March
-
jb7Participant
Thanks for putting this together Brian-
Will you be making it at all?I gave Louise a call, she’s expecting people between 5-8pm.
Is there a map of the location that anyone can easily link to?
I should be up on Friday, will be in the general area in the afternoon-Sinead says she’ll probably be around at some stage over the weekend,
but is very busy at the moment…Is there a final list of people attending?
BMParticipantI will be in Kilkee, Co. Clare over the weekend, so can’t make it. Hopefully you will all have good weather and great photo opportunities.
Final List (based on what I’ve been told):
JB7
Mark
Cathal
Pixelle
The Arrow – not sure
deborah (maybe)
Madra Rua – haven’t heard anything since initial confirmation
Jess the Springer – will be there at times
Martin (Sunday only)
Turi
Ossie13 – SaturdayHave a look at the links at:
jessthespringerParticipantSorry I haven’t been around much, I’ve really limited internet access at the moment and have been a bit under the weather too, have been busy recovering and am happy to say am feeling a lot better :D
I hope to make it along, but am not really sure when, probably Sunday, but may be around for a while on Saturday too…
If anyone is looking for something to do on the friday evening, blues star, Mirenda Rosenberg will be playing a gig in the Whistledown Hotel in Warrenpoint. She’s an amazing performer and many believed she stole the Blues on the Bay festival last year. A good night of music and entertainment guaranteed! The gig is a fundraising gig (for the 2010 Blues on the Bay festival) and while I’m sure of the exact price of tickets, I think they are £10
This is her MySpace if you fancy a listen http://www.myspace.com/themirendarosenbergband” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;
And a video… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lom8-SscT0″ onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;
If it’s your thing, there is usually a really relaxed attitude to photography at her gigs, with plenty of opportunity to get close, I was lucky to get some great pictures of her last year. In here if your interested… http://www.flickr.com/photos/sineadmurphy/3571772500/in/set-72157617120845337/” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;
It also gives a flavor for some of the better nightlife and entertainment the Mournes area has to offer. There’s more to see than just the scenery!
There are others, but this was the first on google… I’m sure they have a minibus/people carrier to get people there, and home again. Not idea how much it would cost from Attical to Warrenpoint. Maybe somewhere between £10 & £15 although, that’s a guess.
Or you could all just kip in the back of Cathal’s van? Hehe…VIP Taxis

T 028 4177 3999Anyway, will hopefully catch up with you all at some stage.
Sinead
cathaldParticipantJust to let you know that Sean(the arrow)is going back to fish on friday so won’t be there
and the white van will not be able to make it as she is losing a bit of water so the car is going instead
anyhow looking forward to the weekendCathal
deborahParticipantEnjoy – unfortunately not able to come. Work is manic…. Hope to catch up with people over the summer. Think the white van in need of a medical Cathal!
MarkKeymasterSorry to hear that Deborah and Cathal.
For anyone who is coming down Saturday or Sunday, I guess the best thing is to meet at the hostel
at 10am each day unless someone comes up with an idea of where we’re going on the days :)ossie13ParticipantMark wrote:

jb7ParticipantThanks for that link Sinead-
Are you going yourself?
Anyone else interested in going?
Seems like the best plan for the first night- well, the only plan…I’ve got Cathal’s number, and sinead’s…
Should make it to the hostel sometime after sundown, but will probably be in the area earlier-
did I say that already?turiMemberjessthespringerParticipantI’ll be at the gig friday eve, I made a mistake on the price…
Tickets are £5.00 doors open at 9 pm
MarkKeymastercathaldParticipantI’m sure there will be a seven seater around to take us folk a long to Warren point
A few quid each will cover it and B+B in Sineads will be free…after the party stops :D :DPaddysnapperParticipantI very much hope I will make “A gathering” this year, but sadly not this one. I am going into Hospital “Under the Knife” in Easter week….Enjoy Lads!….Spring am strung!!!!!!!!!!
obroinParticipantHoping to make it down on Saturday morning for the meet-up.
This is dependant on getting over this dose I have, which is
keeping me firmly tied to the house at the moment. The forecast
for Saturday is pretty ok.The coordinates for the hostel for anyone using sat nav are
54.06.34.40N 6.02.33.70W.As an aside, what lens would people recommend as an all rounder
for this type of trip. Have 24-105 and 70-300 to choose from?
Thanks to Brian for organizing this.Matt.
PixelleMemberI never did a gig before, thanks for the idea, sinead.
What lenses would be good?
