Pictures to newspapers

How does it works?
Today I was coming from photo shoot in Wicklow mountains and got in picture burning BMW in Dublin mountains, just I don’t know where to send pictures and what kind of reward I can expect.MMXParticipantFirst of all, you need to include some information; where exactly it happened, when, how, who was the car´s owner, etc.
This also determines the price; if it´s a car of the Taoiseach or any famous person, the price will be much higher. You can try any newspaper, magazine or website that comes to your mind. It´s also good to register on Demotix (it´s a citizen journalism website) and if somebody wants the photo, he will contact you with his offer.
And show us the photo :P
archibaltsParticipantI was coming from photo shoot –
and then discovered black smoke, which I wanted to capture, and that was a car :O
I was trying to contact Garda, but no idea to which department I must write, I sent an email to traffic department.
So that’s means, that if I’m capturing some unbelievable moment, I can’t get straight to newspapers? I must upload it in Demotix? I have problems with writing story’s. If so, then I must get some English courses :D IMO my only option is to send pictures to ”somebody” and that ”somebody” can make a story.
MMXParticipantPeople, use your brains
Of course you CAN go straight to newspapers, there are no rules or laws what you can and what you can´t do, if you want, take a plane to London, find the Reuters headquarters on Canary Wharf, walk inside and shout “Hey, I have a photo of burning BMW, anyone wants to buy it?!” but it will take much more time, that´s why I suggested using services of an agency (such as Demotix) who will do the business part for you. Demotix is something like stock photo bank, the only difference is that they publish photos from journalists, so you will upload the photos to one website instead of contacting dozens of newspapers and magazines. However I see that you successfully did it: http://www.demotix.com/news/390128/life-dublin-mountains” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false; so now you can wait if somebody wants to buy it.
brendancullenParticipantWouldn’t be the first time ‘Dubliners’ left their rubbish in Wicklow. You only have to look at Brittas Bay every Monday morning.
damiendParticipantarchibaltsParticipantphotosMemberbit late for this but I offer a service to people – distributing images to the national newspapers – if the image gets printed I show the person how and who to invoice.
Generally the papers pay €70 per pic – except the sun (they pay space rate)….images need to be sent as fast as possible to the papers.
