Her are some of the pictures I took on my rather simple Canon Powershot A430
Comments would me much appreciated
thank you!gerardkParticipantHi – I think they are great gig pictures with one problem, the noise level (graininess) of them. I dont know what iso setting your camera was on but it might be worth looking into finding out how to set it to a lower value next time. If your camera can shoot in raw format that might be worth trying too.
pete4130MemberI think you did really well with these images given the circumstances. I’m guessing the show was on somewhere like the Point Depot? It can be a real struggle if your in such a large crowd to get the pictures you really want. Despite your camera being more of a point and shoot rather than a Digital SLR I thnk it coped very well.
stasberMemberWell done, some nice shots.
I second Pete’s comments – given the circumstances I think I’d be chuffed with images like these, especially as I’m sure that they had a ‘no camera’ policy (big venues/big shows usually do), which is limiting in where you can take pictures from (i.e. wherever you are squashed in the crowd) and what kit you have (one of the reasons I’ve recently bought a better digicam as my DSLR won’t fit in my pocket!). Pester your parents for a better toy next birthday! ;)
Ignoring the noise issue, which is pretty chronic, the pics are well composed (shame about other peoples body parts in the way – usual complaint in crowds) and in most cases focused correctly. A compact will usually guess an adequate depth of field for you. Venues of this calibre hosting shows of this kind usually have great lighting so you’ve little bother in fighting for correct exposure, except of course where lighting is tricky, i.e. lights glaring back at you from the back or sides of the stage, or they’re being ‘creative’ with it. This can fool the camera’s built-in metering and/or focus (hence the need for manual settings to override these, and this is where you get to know your stuff).
I don’t know what post processing you do or what application you use, but I’m sure the images can be enhanced over what you posted, and more importantly, resize them – as the above thumbs open up to huge dimensions (probably their original size), making them impossible (and pointless) to view. Resize them to something more pleasing like 800pix along the longest side.

Hope you didn’t mind put this one through neat image
It certainly removed the noiseIerogirlParticipantThanks for the advice guys and thanks for the edited image..
I think I just need a new and more professionl camera because when I zoom on the camera I have now the quality of the pictures are not of a good quality!
*hint hint*
Dad…
XxXxXjoolsveerParticipantI suspect that you are using the “digital zoom” on your camera. If you use optical zoom only the quality will be much better but you will have to get closer to your subject.
earthairfireParticipantGreat job with that cam!!

EddieParticipantEnjoyed looking at your images, they are great ,apart from the technical problems you had ,your composition skills are really good, you also captured the action and mood really well. Do try again when you sort out the technical issues. You have a good eye for this type of work.
