Why? Both the lines serve the Southside!
Those of us living on the Northside might forget there’s any at all!

Southsider, not westsider.

True.
RagDollPhotographyMemberThanks everyone! :D Got plenty of places now to keep me occupied for a while
And i live in Lucan so i’m not even sure what a Luas is anymore haha
Liam2673ParticipantFor residential areas I would go to Stoneybatter around Oxmantown Road, or on the other side towards Grangegorman such as Kirwan St. This is in my view the nicest of the old ‘working class’ areas in Dublin.
I think O’Devany gardens is an interesting place to visit. Its right beside Stoneybatter. It is, I suppose, a dangerous ara but in day time I can’t imagine anyone bothering you unless you are taking photos of people without asking.
You can walk to both in about 15 minutes from O’Connell Bridge.
Also, early morning get up and visit the Fruit Markets in Smithfield. These kick off around 5.30am and will be busy i guess until 10am. The building itself is lovely. Again, it is close to Stoneybatter.
GfoxParticipantSpeaking of Smithfield, the monthly Smithfield Horse Market is on this Sunday. It takes place on the first Sunday of each month and is brilliant for photos. Have a look at my flickr for some examples..
It starts earlyas far as I am aware, I think around seven or eight but you would be in plenty of time being there around ten.Link to flickr set is here http://www.flickr.com/photos/gfox/sets/72157607217258249/
Heres one from September
gsParticipantthe Powerscourt Estate & waterfall area & Glendalough are worth a visit also , if not already mentioned….
grif04Participantmy brother lives up around stepaside, he took me up this mountain (that you actually drive up) and yo uget a nice cityscape of dublin especially at night, also maybe if you wanted to have an idea of stopping somewhere and taking a walk to one of the overpasses to get some slow shutters of the motorway.
just some thoughts i had when i saw the thread incase you’d be interested.RagDollPhotographyMembermarkst33ParticipantSt Annes Park is good too. You have the rose gardens (I know not much use this time of year) Theres the Ponds especially the old one. Lots of ducks there. Theres the little streams/rivers. Lots of different types of trees and so you have lots of different colours. Theres quite a few old buildings/ruins. If you go on a sunday theres a remote control racing car track for enthusiasts and lots of guys turn up there. Then theres the people who go there for a walk, so you have kids, old people couples cyclists as well as people playing GAA, soccer etc.
Parts of St Annes are quite secluded so you can get some nice landscapes and it can be accessed via 2 bus routes. Any bus that goes up the Howth road, get off at Killester church and turn right at the crossroads walk down past St Pauls and in that way.
Or get a bus that goes out the coast road and get into St Annes from the back. Thats the quickest way to get to the ponds.
Also Dollymount beach/bull island is across the road
Brian_CParticipantIf you’re looking for some stunning sunrise locations head to Donabate Beach, with the sun not coming up until 8:30ish you should be able to get a bus/train out there in time for sun-up.
For sunsets I think you can head to the Pheonix Park, I’ve seen sunsets of the park on this site, do a search for Phoenix Park and see what the craic is. I seem to remember LoGill posting some cracker shots of sunsets at PP. Though the sun maybe a little low this time of year. Thou that should be part of your research.
Also, bear in mind the city centre takes on a whole new vibe at night-time, with streetlights and lights on/under bridges on the Liffey, light trails from cars, etc….
I’m sure if you’re stuck for a lift you could arrange a mini PI-meet and get a lift of someone.
