I was wondering if anyone could reccomend a good protable background system. I’d like to be able to pack it up and bring into into peoples houses and set it up with at least amount of fuss. I have the Lastolite pop up system, but I’m finding it a little limiting to work with, space wise. Any reccomendations, tips would be great !! I would be using a D200 and one SB-900 off camera on a lightstand.
Hi Linda, I have a lastolite as well and they can be quite awkward, they seem to have a
life of their own  How about the stands with the bar across, these are quite portable
as you can take them apart, I suppose they are similar to the light stand you are using, you
can then use either fabric draped over or paper, though the paper roll can be quite big and
cumbersome to manage. You can get the stands quite cheaply on ebay and sheeting can work
well as you can buy it by the metre so you can buy as much or as little as you like.
Thanks a mill for replying. I’ve done some more research since u posted & I think now I’ll get the stands and make up a background with black velvet. I’ll hopefully get some newborn baby volunteers and I think the black looks great. Now to get the velvet …. Thanks for your reply
No problem Linda, instead of black velvet which would be costly, how about
black fleece it gives the same matt background and can be washed easily in
the washing machine? Black fleece blankets are readily available and two
would be ideal as background and ground sheet.
