Portfolio prep

I previously had 2 design portfolios, a3 size and a1 size, which from what i knew suits the subject, with a photography portfolio, i assume a4 is a better size, any tips for putting it together etc?
Any help would be appreciated
dont start with what you think is your best work, and dont categorise as randomness is more interestin on the brain and requires more attention to your work for the peson looking
