Hi everyone, this is a portrait of my little fella, C&C appreciated.

It’s a good shot, very thoughtful expression.

My only crit would be the B&W looks a bit too greyscale for my liking, could do with a bit of punch!

I like the lighting ? Can you tell me the photograph was shot on film and scanned or digital ?

Welcome to the site by the way :)

Thanks lads, photo was taken with digital SLR camera. For the b&w convertion I used the Fred Miranda’s B&W Workflow Pro plugin.

Hmmm…Would you try with a little bit more contrast/darkness?

I think it’ll bring viewers eyes to the face a lot more!

It is a nice photo with an unusuially intense/thoughtful expression on a child. It definitely could do with a little bit more contrast, but if you do this be careful not to blow out the whites as it’s already pretty close on his face. My main critique though is that the shot is both soft and noisey. I’m guessing the softness is a combination of both camera shake and motion blur in the subject, but without the EXIF it’s impossible to tell for sure. The noise is probably do to a high ISO and the shot being a touch underexposed. I’d be interested to hear what the settings were for the shot, because usually with natural window light, faster shutter speeds, wider apertures and lower noise shots are possible.
