Portraits of Amra

ElizabethRoseParticipant
I haven’t taken portraits in a long, long time… so I was a bit nerves of taking some more of Amra.
I set up a mini studio in my bedroom, with 2 lights & a blanket (I can’t wait till we can use the studio at college)Here they are:
Feedback is welcome :)
sndipoMemberI like the first one. Nice depth and sharpness balance.
Wouldn’t know much what to say about the “home-made” studio but they seem decent photos to me :)RASMITH32MemberNice shots, just need a little processing to bring them out. Heres one I took the liberty of playing with, hope you dont mind….
PixelleMemberRASMITH32MemberYes its a bit orange isnt it :-), also some artifacts on her hand , far from perfect but you get the jist??
connieParticipantElizabethRoseParticipantRAS…. I don’t see whats so wrong with NATURAL beauty, not everything has to be enhanced?
RASMITH32MemberHi, Yes you are absolutely right and your model is beautiful but I do feel that these pictures need some enhancing. That said I asked myself why. When I look at the images the girl looks like she has been overly dusted down with foundation. This combined with a slight overexposure has left her looking less then natural. The backgrounds are distracting also. I would have the model move forward away from the background as your lighting is equally lighting both the background and you model hence the emphasis on the creases in the sheet. I think you would be surprised if you took the same shot with the exposure reduced, the model brought at least 6ft to the front of the background and the focus point set on her eye with maybe a slightly larger apeture.
Your last shot has the focus point on her eye and you can see the difference between this and the other shots. Much better. These are my own thoughts onlyElizabethRoseParticipantMy model was not wearing any foundation, she only had mascara, some eyeshadow & eyeliner (I did her make-up myself & made sure she wore no foundation). In your edit you’ve make her look even less natural!? & The enhancing doesn’t suit them at all (not to mention it was done badly)… the shoot was about being NATURAL with no enchancement.
Also, I was in my room using a clothes horse and a sheet of material for my background (which only just about fit in my room) so I could not move her further away from the background.
