Nipped down to one of my favourite spots on Saturday evening for an hour in the hope that there might be a sunset, but sadly not. I normally would go for images with strong colour, although there is something I really like about the subtle tones & “coolness” of this one. What do you think?
10 secs f16
andy mcinroyParticipantSteven,
I really like this sort of subtle photograph. On the web they can sometimes be glanced over, but this one deserves close inspection.
In particular, the layering of Inishowen in the distance, the castlerock headland and the strand compliment each other beautifully. There’s a nice transition in the sky too.
Top class stuff. Who needs golden light eh?
Andy
StevenHannaMemberlousyParticipantYou’ve done a lovely job here Stephen, the 10 sec exp’ made a great job of the water
Overall it’s a lovely imagePat
PeteMcDMemberMaking the most of the light for sure. I also like the understated tones. This photo has a strong atmosphere and mood.
The detail in the rocks is good, and I’m sure there is more at full res. The composition, as usual, is so well controlled. It sits easily with my eye, and you don’t give it much opportunity to escape!
10sec exposure smooths the water but leaves definition of the choppy waves. Nice.
Really like this one.
Did you dodge the headland? Is there a bit of a halo above it? Nit picking…
StevenHannaMemberThanks Pat & Pete.
Pete – the headland hasn’t been dodged, just a little glimpse of light that was trying it’s hardest to get through the thick cloud.Steven
Brian_CParticipantHi Steven, I’m gonna go against the grain here, I don’t think it’s one of your better shots to be honest. I personally like a little of that Golden Light stuff, a little red n’ yellow about the sky, ya know. But that said you’ve done a good job under the conditions.
I hope it improves for Friday afternoon as I’m headin up that way.
