Posing Sheets

Well, after a long break from photography, I got roped in to doing two weddings for friends. I have made it very clear that I have sold most of my equipment, and dont have money to go buying flashes n things – so if they want me to go ahead, they will have to just put up with what I can do with natural light (lets hope the weather is half ways decent). I said I was very happy for other people to take photos too if they wanted, but I would do my best. *sigh*

Anyway – for some other friend’s weddings that I have done, I have made up some ‘posing sheets’ with the B&G to get an idea of the kind of photos they like, and to get some ideas to get started with on the day.

I have googled wedding photos, and found some that I would like to use, and they have come up with a few themselves –

When/if you shoot weddings, are there any poses of the couple that you find always work well or are ‘must haves’?

Would you mind posting some that work well that I can add to my ideas sheet? Could be useful for others who are reluctant wedding shooters!!!

Posing sheets? That’s a good idea.

    Hi Nicola,

When I look at magazines or other wedding photographers work I always try and take note of poses and compositions that I like. But you know, I have never thought of creating posing sheets.

I’m only really getting into this myself so I don’t really have anything to offer in the way of poses, however I might steal your idea and create some posing sheets of my own….

Thanks for that link – there are a few pages there near the end that would be very useful in posing couples.

What I have done in the past is either cut photos I like from magazines and put them in a scrap book to use for ideas, or as was also suggested, googled wedding photos and saved anything that I like the look of. Then I put just a load of thumbnail images on a couple of A4 sheets and print them out and bring them with me. I have also got the couple to do the same – either cut photos from magazines that they like, or ask them to email any photos they have spotted online. It helps things run more smoothly on the day, and you dont overlook any particular shots that you want to do.

Gonna be editing photos this week from the wedding – I was reasonably happy with some of them – might post a few later on.

    Nicola
